#FPV Tuning for Cinematic Footage
Getting smooth FPV drone footage requires precise PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) tuning. This article documents field constraints and tuning solutions for a 5-inch drone frame.
#Field Challenges
Variable wind and prop-wash are the two main enemies in cinematic flight. When a drone descends through its own exhaust air (prop-wash), the image can shake violently.
#Baseline Parameters
Here are the baseline parameters we use as a starting point:
- Proportional (P): Slightly lower than freestyle tuning for slower, more controlled movements.
- Integral (I): High enough to maintain the angle and resist strong winds during stable flight (cruising).
- Derivative (D): Kept within safe limits to dampen prop-wash without excessively raising motor temperatures.
